WHY WE ENCOURAGE CHURCH MEMBERSHIP:
HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM OR A REC CENTRE?
If so, you’ve signed your name on a piece of paper, you’ve paid a fee, and in doing so, you’ve said, this is where I am going to work out or exercise. This is where I am going to come to swim. And because of this, you receive privileges – you get to use their space and their equipment, join classes, and hopefully find community there.
We offer the opportunity to become a member of The Church on Oxford Hill.
but why do we have church membership?
We are a registered charity in Canada, and for us to operate as a charity, we must have a governing body that makes decisions on behalf of the charity.
We do not operate top-down with only a small team making the decisions, but instead, the government of our church body consists of voting members.
These members have the privilege of making decisions that affect the church, and they vote on different matters, such as our yearly budget.
Beyond the functioning of a charity, becoming a member of The Church on Oxford Hill says:
I’ve found my church home.
This is where I want to put down roots and be involved.
This is where I want to serve, give, and find community.
This is where I want to invest; sharing my time, gifts and talents.
This is where I want to grow in knowing Christ and becoming more like Him.
